What Patients Can Expect with Weight Loss Surgery
Morbid obesity can lead to chronic health conditions like diabetes and heart disease. Losing weight is an important part in reducing the risk for these conditions.
If diet and exercise don't accomplish this goal, weight loss surgery may be the best option. Dr. Brandon Ingram, Bariatric, General Surgeon, explains what a patient can expect with bariatric surgery.
"For anyone considering weight loss surgery, the most important factor that I can give you today is that it's not easy. It still takes a lot of effort after surgery and it still takes time after surgery. You're not going to lose the weight immediately, you're going to find it difficult at times. Where the benefit comes in is to be able to sustain weight loss over a longer period of time and be able to keep the weight off once you lose it," said Dr. Ingram.
At CHI St. Vincent, we believe that we have put together a very comprehensive team that is going to help patients through this process. We have resources available that will help patients along the way.
