When a heart attack, stroke or cardiac condition threatens your well-being, you want the best care available. CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs is the premiere facility in South West Arkansas offering comprehensive services and the latest in technology in one convenient location. Your care is coordinated in ways that make it easiest for you. This saves time which is critically important in matters of the heart.

Our Facility

Our Heart Institute is a 54,000-square-foot facility on the campus of CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs. The center is equipped with everything you need in case of a cardiac emergency. From a chest pain unit for evaluation to a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program, we can help you get back to living.

The center was the first in Arkansas to implant the Medtronic Reveal LINQ Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) system, the smallest implantable cardiac monitoring device available. The Reveal LINQ ICM is approximately one-third the size of an AAA battery and continuously and wirelessly monitors a patient’s heart for up to three years. The device is indicated for patients who experience symptoms such as dizziness, palpitation, fainting and chest pain that may suggest a cardiac arrhythmia, and for patients at increased risk for cardiac arrhythmias. The procedure was completed at the CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs Heart & Vascular Center.

The center is home of the Hot Springs office of Heart Clinic Arkansas with many cardiologists who offer a wide range of services to help you get back onto the road to recovery. In case you need surgery our team of cardiologist can work with our cardiovascular surgeon to make sure you have the right treatment plan moving forward.

Services - Hot Springs Heart Institute

Chest Pain Unit

The Chest Pain Unit is located adjacent to the Emergency Department at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs. It provides you fast access to critical care when time is of the essence. Our team utilizes national best practice protocols and guidelines to provide you with needed information when time is of the essence. This unit includes five observation beds in case you are experiencing cardiac-related symptoms requiring clinical monitoring and further diagnostic testing.

Cardiology & Catheterization Procedures

The digital cardiac catheterization labs at the Heart Institute feature the most advanced equipment available for diagnosing heart disease. Cath labs are available to help cardiologists diagnosis potential blockages which can affect your quality of life.

Surgical Procedures

At the Heart Institute, everything about surgical procedures are carefully designed to promote the best possible outcome for you. Our surgical suites are equipped for a variety of procedures, including cardiac, thoracic and peripheral procedures. Plus, our team of doctors, nurses and anesthesiologists communicate with you and your family throughout each stage of the procedure.

EECP - Angina Treatment

You may experience chest discomfort during exercise when the heart has to work harder and needs more oxygen. Enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) is a non-invasive technique to treat chronic stable chest pain (angina). EECP services are available to help you get back to working and playing so you can live a happier, healthier life.

Vascular Procedures

Sometimes heart problems not only affect the heart. Vascular issues can also lead to serious problems that can affect your health. We use a wide range of approaches in treating peripheral vascular disease. Our diagnostic services include minimally-invasive techniques and conventional surgical procedures to help get you back to the things you love.

Cardiac Rehab

After a heart attack, stent, bypass surgery, or other procedure, cardiac rehabilitation is key for you to have a successful recovery. We offer a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program, designed to optimize your health and improve your quality of life after a serious cardiac event.

CHI St. Vincent First in Central Arkansas for Treating Afib with FARAPULSE

CHI St. Vincent becomes the first hospital in Central Arkansas to offer FARAPULSE™ Pulsed Field Ablation System for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (Afib).

“We are pleased to have performed the first cardiac ablation procedure in Central Arkansas using the FARAPULSE™ Pulsed Field Ablation System, a newly-approved device for the treatment of atrial fibrillation in the U.S. and a technology that has been used safely and effectively across the globe,” said Marcia Atkinson, President of CHI St. Vincent Heart Institute. “The incidence of atrial fibrillation is on the rise, and such safe, effective and efficient therapies allow physicians to treat more patients, reduce complications, and benefit overall public health.”

The FARAPULSE PFA System is a unique new alternative to standard-of-care thermal ablation. A non-thermal approach for the treatment of drug-refractory, recurrent, symptomatic, paroxysmal (i.e., intermittent) atrial fibrillation (AF), it is proven to be an effective treatment option for patients while minimizing risks associated with thermal ablation.

"During a traditional ablation procedure, a catheter is guided to the interior of the heart, which uses extreme temperatures of hot or cold to destroy the targeted areas in the heart associated with abnormal heart rhythms,” said Dr. Tom Wallace, Cardiac Electrophysiologist at CHI St Vincent Heart Institute. “The Farapulse system, however, relies on a high-frequency electrical pulse, allowing us to be more precise during the procedure. This unique new therapy has proven to be as effective as the traditional method while minimizing risks for patients and shortening the procedure time significantly.”
