One of the most common types of stroke is caused by a clot that prevents blood from reaching a part of the brain. Dr. Ali Krisht explains how these strokes are treated at CHI St. Vincent Arkansas Neuroscience Institute.

He says patients are initially given medications that will break down the clot. If that's not successful, Dr. Krisht says there's a physician who specializes in fishing those clots out if they don't break down. A catheter is put in through the groin, goes all the way up to where the clot is and is pulled out. 

"To me, it's exciting, almost miraculous outcomes. There are patients who go home in two days who could've easily ended up in with a permanent deficit," said Dr. Krisht.
