If a person has a blockage or a complex aneurysm in their carotid artery, they're at high risk for a stroke. Dr. Ali Krisht says the Arkansas Neuroscience Institute at CHI St. Vincent provides a revolutionary treatment option. 

"We are probably one of the only places in the state and in the region able to do a bypass that will take an artery from the scalp and hook it up to an artery in the brain. The operation of bypass of the brain is a very delicate operation that you have to have enough experience and also you have to train on a regular basis," Dr. Krisht said.

In order to achieve very successful results, there is a laboratory where Dr. Krisht and others train on a regular basis. They also continue to keep developing bypass procedures.
