Emergency Room Visits Benefit More Than Emergencies

As seen on KTHV 11

Many people go to the emergency department for a number of reasons, not just emergencies. According to Dr. Lee Wilbur, Emergency Medicine physician at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, about 5% of what they do is trauma or acute care, and about 95% is primary care.

Dr. Wilbur looks at the overall health of the people that come into the emergency department rather than simply accessing the symptoms that brought them in. His personal approach is that developing a partnership with his patient, empowers them to take more control of their health. The goal is to to prevent patients from needing to come into the emergency department.
