Patients and their families joined CHI St. Vincent Heart Institute physicians and staff at the heart recovery reunion. All the patients honored at the event had received the Impella® heart pump, the world’s smallest heart pump. The Impella is designed to provide minimally-invasive, temporary support for patients who have heart failure or are in cardiogenic shock as the result of a heart attack. CHI St. Vincent has implanted more than 100 Impella heart pumps, more than any hospital in the state of Arkansas.
