When Boobs Attack
Angie shares her journey with breast cancer from diagnosis to surgery and recovery followed by her decision about reconstructive surgery.
Since Angie has dense breasts, she needed to have an ultrasound following her diagnostic mammogram. “There is an ultrasound tech at the CHI St. Vincent breast center that is the reason why I am still here today, along with my care team,” says Angie. “She was incredible and made me feel so comfortable. And then she went to tell the doctor what she had seen.”
Angie had no lumps or other symptoms, so she is relieved her cancer was caught at an early stage. Angie had a lumpectomy and was impressed with her treatment. “Dr. Prasertvit is incredible. You can tell she really knows what she is doing.”
Pathology reports indicated the need for further treatment, and Angie was given options so that she could decide what was best for her. Her choice was to have a double mastectomy.
“Even if you don’t have symptoms, you need to go have your mammogram every year,” says Angie. Watch Angie’s story to learn more about her road to recovery.
