If you're over 40 and haven’t had a mammogram in the past 12 months, Lane Aughenbaugh, MD, said it's time to get one scheduled.

“The importance of getting that early and regular screening is that you can catch any kind of breast cancer or precancer very early so it’s much more treatable,” says Dr. Aughenbaugh.

The CHI St. Vincent Women’s Clinic has the ability to do 3D mammography. Not only does this technology have a lesser chance of false positive results, but Dr. Aughenbaugh said it's a little bit more comfortable for women.

"It’s just a little bit better imaging. I think that’s something that a lot of women appreciate, particularly if you’re someone who has denser breast tissue where it may be more difficult to see everything with a standard mammogram,: said Dr. Aughenbaugh.
