David Foster, M.D. has been President of CHI St. Vincent Medical Group since May 2013. His focus is engaging physicians to strengthen and build relationships between aligned physician partners and CHI St. Vincent.
Dr. Foster joined CHI St. Vincent from CHRISTUS Health where he served as Chief Medical Officer for the CHRISTUS Provider Network, a multi-specialty medical group that employed 230 physicians across two states. He was also the founding Medical Director of the CHRISTUS Health Plan, a managed Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program serving the people of south Texas. He was also a practicing family medicine physician with the CHRISTUS Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Dr. Foster served as Executive Vice President of the Medical Staff at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Memorial. He was co-chair of the department of family practice for the CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. In addition to being a board member, Foster served two terms as chair, of the Nueces County Medical Education Foundation, a faculty practice plan affiliated with Texas A&M University.
Dr. Foster earned a Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. In addition, he completed his MBA at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst’s Isenberg School of Management
