2017 Scholarship Opportunities

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS JUNE 2, AT 4PM.

Scholarships for CHI St. Vincent coworkers (including CHIPs and contracted coworkers) are offered through CHI St. Vincent Foundation. Scholarships require a minimum 2.8 GPA unless stated otherwise.

Nursing Excellence Scholarship Honoring Dr. John Jones and Judy Johnson, RN

The Nursing Excellence Scholarship Endowment was established in 2015 to honor the care, dedication and commitment demonstrated by both Dr. John Jones and Judy Johnson, RN to their patients at CHI St. Vincent for more than 35 years. The Nursing Excellence Scholarship supports CHI coworkers interested in obtaining an advanced degree in nursing, including a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) and higher, through an accredited nursing program.

  • Individual award will not exceed $10,000 per recipient and will cover all semesters of the academic program.
  • Recipients must agree to remain employed at CHI St. Vincent for a minimum of three years after receipt of funds.

Vogel Family Nursing Scholarship

CHI St. Vincent promotes nursing excellence by encouraging CHI coworkers interested in nursing as a profession to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) through an accredited nursing program. Students must be enrolled in the nursing courses of a nursing program to be eligible for this scholarship.

  • Nine Vogel Family Nursing Scholarships will be awarded.  Eight in the amount of $2,500 each and one in the amount of $5,000.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required.

CHI St. Vincent Coworker Scholarship

  • Funded by coworkers through the 2016 Coworker Campaign
  • Supports nursing and non-nursing; for anyone pursuing advanced degree in area of his/her profession, including technical training and traditional academic pursuits.
  • A select number of scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each.

CHI St. Vincent Foundation Scholarship for General Education

  • Established by the CHI St. Vincent Foundation to support education for those in health care industry including nursing and non-nursing degrees.
  • A select number of scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each.

CHI St. Vincent Foundation Scholarship for Nursing Education

  • Established by the CHI St. Vincent Foundation to support coworkers pursuing a nursing degree.
  • A select number of scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $2,500 each to PCTs and other coworkers wanting to pursue an associate nursing degree.

Radiology Scholarships

Individual awards will not exceed $5,000 per recipient in any given calendar year and applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. CHI St. Vincent, through the Vogel Family Radiology Assistance Fund, promotes excellence by encouraging individuals to seek radiology technologist and nursing training, education and certification to improve the delivery and quality of radiology patient care.  In addition to awarding the Sam Vogel Memorial Radiology Scholarships annually, additional awards will be distributed to support Advanced Radiology Certifications in multiple radiology modalities and Nurse Certifications in Radiology. An applicant must be one of the following:

  • Accepted in the CHI St. Vincent Radiology Technologist program or radiology nursing program.
  • Be a CHI coworker enrolled in an ACR approved course for the Advancement and Certification for a Specialty Radiology Modality including, but not limited to, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computerized Tomography and Cardiovascular Interventional.
  • Be a CHI coworker selected by the Radiology Department to attend the annual Society of Interventional Radiology conference training and agree to present the learnings to the department upon return.


Please note:

  • Scholarships require applicant to be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits per semester for two consecutive semesters.
  • All applicants must be currently employed by CHI St. Vincent and have a minimum of six (6) months employment.
  • All scholarships require recipient to remain employed by CHI St. Vincent for a minimum of one year after receipt of funds, except the Jones/Johnson Scholarship, which requires a three-year commitment.
