Sleep

A good night’s sleep is essential for physical and mental wellbeing and for normal daytime functioning. There are many sleep disorders that can disrupt your normal sleep. Common sleep disorders that can affect your sleep include obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), insomnia, restless legs, hypersomnias, narcolepsy and poor sleep hygiene.

Perhaps, the most common and most important among these is OSA. It is a condition that occurs due to repeated obstruction of the upper airway during sleep which leads to disrupted sleep at night, and excessive stress on organs like heart, nervous system, circulation and metabolism. The disrupted sleep can lead to impaired daytime functioning like excessive daytime sleepiness, driving problems that can be dangerous. The excessive stress on the organs can increase the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, depression, anxiety etc. If you experience symptoms like snoring, unrefreshed sleep, excessive daytime sleepiness, witnessed apneas please see your doctor or call our pulmonary and sleep clinic.

Our sleep centers offer services to treat a wide range of sleep disorders. Our staff are board certified polysomnographists and will provide you a friendly and professional service during your sleep study. Patients must first be seen by a sleep specialist before they are referred to a sleep study.
